The Elixir of Love

We are thrilled to announce that in 2024 we will be embarking on our next street opera adaptation! This time we are tackling Donizetti’s sparkling comedy L’elisir d’amore or The Elixir of Love and are excited to put our Baseless Fabric stamp on it! Again, director/librettist Joanna Turner and composer Leo Geyer will be collaborating with Jo editing and adapting the story and writing the new libretto for London life today while Leo takes the orchestra to just 3 instruments suitable for walking down the high street. We are also excited to be engaging two of our community partners at an earlier stage of the adaptation process than previously – more details on that soon!

As part of the programme of work across 2024 we will also be offering our Skills Sharing Workshops for practitioners who are new to opera, our Opera Taster Workshops to South London primary schools and our Carehome Concerts to local organisations for the elderly. And there will also be further details about the Research & Development Sharings of our new adaptation later in the year so stay tuned! It’s going to be a busy year!

As ever we are extremely grateful to our funders and donors to enable this work to happen – hugest thanks! And we are continuing to fundraise to make the full street performances happen at a later date.
