Merton Music Foundation (MMF) – www.mmf.org.uk
Established as a charity in March 1991, MMF provides high quality music education for children in Merton. One of the Charity’s key priorities is to support schools in the provision of an enriched music entitlement for all pupils. Instrumental and vocal tuition is available for both individuals and groups, and a wide range of orchestras, bands, choirs and ensembles are provided for those keen to experience the benefits of group music making. The Foundation has an active programme of project development with professional musicians and artists regularly working with children in Merton schools and at the Borough’s Music Centre. Other services include instrument hire and financial support for families in need.

The LAC aims to provide an Arts venue for the local community where people of all ages can learn and develop performing arts skills, be involved in a range of theatre projects and provide a space where the local community can have access to professional and amateur performances.

Do you like to sing? Are you over 55? Want to sing for fun and meet new friends? Why not try one of our Going for a Song! singing groups? Led by a musical director, we meet during term time in: Mitcham: Wednesdays from 1-2pm at Vestry Hall, 338 London Rd, Mitcham, CR4 3UD. Cost £3.50. Wimbledon: Wednesdays from 3-4pm at St Mark’s Church Hall, St. Mark’s Place, Wimbledon, SW19 7ND. Cost £5. Sessions are on a drop-in basis, no auditions or long term commitment. WCTT Young Actors Company is FREE and meets every Sunday in term time in our Studio theatre. We will be auditioning for new members on Sunday 4th September 2016. Polka Theatre Wimbledon

Polka Theatre, Wimbledon is one of the few venues in the UK which is dedicated to producing and presenting work for young audiences. As well as a range of workshops and after school courses for all young people, Polka have free tickets available for selected Main House shows or subsidised tickets available to certain local community groups. They offer an exciting range of drama, storytelling, music, puppetry and craft workshops in the school holidays for children and their parents and carers.

Wimbledon Light Opera Society is a lively and enterprising society which puts on two shows a year. Recent productions include ‘Guys and Dolls’, an English version of ‘Carmen’ and ‘Sweet Charity’. The next performances are Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd from May 18 – 21 and a musical revue in November. WLOS always welcomes new members – both singers and back stage crew. Avalon Theatre Company

Started during WW2 as a sewing circle when the original members decided to do performances to aid the war effort. From there they expanded and continue to perform musicals often with a forty plus cast. This fun company has members with varied age range from 8yrs to 80yrs. New members always welcome. Wimbledon Community Chorus

Singing rallies the spirit and is a tonic for body and soul – so let us sing together! Wimbledon Community Chorus is a not-for-profit community choir accessible to all members of the Wimbledon community regardless of ability or experience. We sing anything uplifting, from pop music to world music to choral music. We rehearse in Wimbledon on Tuesdays from 7.45pm – 9.30pm. More information on our website.
